The Byrd Middle School library is open from 7:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Library hours are subject to change due to special bell schedules and school events. There are thousands of books in the library for you to use for both research and reading pleasure. To check a book out of the library a student must have a Byrd student ID card.

Students may use the library during nutrition and lunch but no food may be eaten in the room. Students must receive a special library pass from the librarian before or after school to use the library during nutrition and lunch. The pass must be shown to the supervisor before a student can leave the eating area. Without the pass, students must stay in the marked eating areas.

The school librarian is a teacher who is a specialist in both research methods and literature for young people. Ask the librarian for advice if you need research assistance or when you are looking for a good book to read. Reading for pleasure is a lifetime habit.
