Federal and state laws require the California Department of Education (CDE) to monitor implementation of categorical programs operated by local educational agencies (LEAs). Our LEA is Los Angeles County.
Our Federal Program Monitoring (FPM) process will include an onsite review. For the onsite visit, there will be a data and document review, stakeholders’ interviews, and observations of classrooms and staff serving Title I and EL students. In addition, Byrd's Physical Education, after school programs, and Uniform Complaint Procedure implementation will be reviewed.
We will be asking parents and staff members who are part of our advisory councils, both ELAC and SSC, to participate in stakeholder interviews, along with parents of Title I students and English Language Learners.
There will be a mock (practice) FPM conducted on November 30, 2016. Our state review will take place on February 22, 2017. There will be more information to follow!
