What is CJSF?

The purpose of the California Junior Scholarship Federation, a state-wide organization of over 600 chapters, is to foster high standards of scholarship, service, and citizenship on the part of students of California's public and private junior high and middle schools.


What are the benefits of CJSF membership?

CJSF grooms the student for CSF membership in high school. CJSF students are encouraged to participate in community service as well as service projects on campus when the opportunities arise. 



Who is eligible to apply?

CJSF is currently open to 7th and 8th graders.

Students need to earn a minimum of 10 points on their semester report card in 5 courses to be eligible. No points are earned for P.E, HR, Advisory, or T.A. position.

  • A = 3 CJSF points
  • B = 1 CJSF point
    1 extra point for an A or a B in Algebra/ Geometry or in an Honors course, up to a maximum of 2 points per semester
  • C or Pass = 0 CJSF points
  • D or F in any subject shall disqualify the student from membership for the semester.
  • U in citizenship (cooperation) disqualifies a student from membership for the semester


What do I need to turn in to join CJSF?

Fill in application in January by using final grades from the 1st semester. Application is due by January 31, 202. Application link will available in January.

 Do you accept late applications?

Unfortunately, no.  In the bylaws established by the state organization of CJSF, it specifically states that late applications may not be accepted. Submitting applications on time is part of being in CJSF.
